THE TEFL CERTIFICATE COURSE

The course is essentially practical and is assessed continuously.

In the morning, there are input sessions on the skills and methods of teaching. The afternoon/evening consists of lesson preparation, lesson observation and teaching practice (in one-to one and groups).

The course is, by nature, very intensive.

THE COURSE IS DIVIDED IN FIVE AREAS :

1) Methodology: (book provided)

• Classroom Management

This topic includes classroom arrangement, managing, resource materials, maintaining discipline, giving instructions, the role of the student and teacher, etc.

• Teaching skills

This is a very practical element of the course aimed at building the candidates skills in areas such as teaching grammar, vocabulary, business English, creating own materials, correction skills, etc.

2) Language awareness: (book provided)

• Grammar

This section aims to consolidate the trainees’ knowledge of grammar and provides practical ideas as to how it can be taught.

• Phonology (book provided)

Focuses on areas such as stress, intonation, rhythm and the International Phonetic Alphabet.

3) Unknown Language

Trainees are put in the position of language students and will be taught an unknown foreign language. This gives a chance to view lessons as a student and note techniques used by the teacher when teaching beginners.

4) Teaching Practice

The most practical and fundamental area of any TEFL/TESOL course and the main reason why online and distance learning programs do not suffice.

Course trainees teach real students of English and put into practice the skills learnt on the course.

Our trainees start Teaching Observation in the first week and start their Teaching Practice from the second week, teaching at least 6 full length classes during the course. Teaching Practices are observed by a Senior Teacher and after each class trainees have a feedback session with their Observer.

5) Student’s Portfolio:

During the course students are required to develop a portfolio.

The Portfolio provides students in the TEFL programme with the opportunity to demonstrate development as a TESL professional while fulfilling the programme the programme requirements. With advisor guidance, the trainee select/produce representative sample of his/her achievements reflecting the student’s range of knowledge and growth as an ESL/EFL professional.

How do I pay for the course?

To officially reserve your spot in our course, please first pay your €400 deposit directly to the school.

You may do this through either credit card or bank transfer (please, contact us for our bank details).

Once that is done, you may pay the outstanding amount, €1.000, to us on the first day of the course! That may be paid for in cash or by credit card.
